Flow Rate Measurements

We could perform measurements with various different methods, from the classical velocity x area methods to the tracer diluition method.

In this page we want to present you our instruments to realize the diluition method. It allows to obtain very good accuracies and, in addition, our measurement campaigns are always performed with multiple contemporaneous measurements to exclude execution errors.

The flow measurement with our natural tracers dissolved in water is biologically innocuous.

OUR MEASURING INSTRUMENTS

FOR THE TRACER DILUITION METHOD

With them can be measured: concentration of dissolved ions, conductivity, acidity, water quality characteristics. Furthermore, through some of these measures we can indirectly measure the flow of the stream. With very good accuracy.

One of the major problems encountered in measuring the flow in open channels is the fact that the section of the channel is not cylindrical but has a complex cross section and the bottom is composed of material of very different sizes. Consequently the liquid flow is not regular and, to measure the flow, you must use a method suitable for these conditions. In these cases we choose to measure the flow with the dilution method. It consists in diluting a tracer in water and then measuring the concentration flowing in a downstream section.

The method we use to measure the flow of liquid rivers or streams is regulated by international standards. In this assurance we add the possibility to make multiple and contemporary measurements, in order to avoid executive errors.
